Glo & Ray CC Colour Correction Luminous Base Foundation

Glo & Ray CC Colour Correction Luminous Base Foundation

Hiya Darlins

If you are anything like me you will try many, many foundations searching for the ultimate one, and when you find it, it suddenly stops being "The One" and you are on the hunt again.

Glo & Ray CC Colour Correction Luminous Base Foundation

I have recently been testing out Glo & Ray CC Colour Correction Luminous Base Foundation. 35 ml tube at £15.00, this is the second foundation I have tried from this Company, the first being Nebulae Fluid  which I loved.  This CC Foundation gives more coverage than the fluid, and really does even out any colouration you may have on your skin, I tends to have really high colour up in the cheekbone area and this foundation totally dealt with that, while it does give fabulous coverage it isn't totally heavy or cakey, with micro shine particles it adds a glow to your skin, and works wonders on disguising fine lines and pores. it comes in 3 shades the one shown here is number 20 which is the middle of the 3 , I have fair skin and it suited me perfectly.

I do have to give credit where it is due with the staying power of this foundation, it totally lasted all day, it didn't form any dry patches or sit in my lines, which was great as a lot of foundations tend to find the wrinkles like little pathways and just sink right in !

Glo & Ray are 100% high up in my estimation as a make up brand, I have reviewed a few products from them now, and have to say I haven't as yet been disappointed in anything, I would love to see them more on the high street, they can currently be found in Top Shop Oxford St, and I believe but don't quote me on it, larger branches of top Shop and online at   also online at BeautyMart

Glo & Ray LA AMO Creamy Shimmer Lip Colour | Wonderland Hydrating Lip Gloss

Hiya Darlins

You have seen me write about the make up brand Glo & Ray previously  Here, I love this brand for sheer quality and value, The quality is second to none and is on par with some real high end brands but without the high end price tags.

I am not a huge lipstick lover, I think I probably only own about 5 in comparison to about 30 glosses, I am so pleased to have been given the opportunity to try the new La Amo Creamy Shimmer Lip Colour in the shade Tender for Glo & Ray, if I am honest I wouldn't have even looked at it, being a lipstick and I would have seriously been missing out, it is a gorgeous neutral brownish/beige nude with a superb pigmentation, whilst it is called shimmer it isn't a pearl type shimmer, but it definitely has something to it, let's call it a semi shimmer, halfway between a gloss and a matt, it really is quite lovely and I have to say I am pleasantly shocked at just how much I like it, the colour would suit anyone in my opinion, even if you are a pink lover this is a nude that isn't wishy washy like some, I have found nude shades in the past tend to leave you looking a bit washed out.  The staying power was pretty impressive, I used it first thing in the morning, drank and ate at lunch and only needed a quick touch up.

Next Up is the Wonderland Hydrating Lip Gloss in Fairy Dust, this is a beautiful sparkly shimmer that can be used alone or over lipstick for extra bling, I have mentioned before that there is something about Glo & Ray Wonderland Gloss that really is quite special, the company make no claims to it being a plumping gloss, but I think due to the sheer fact that it is so hydrating I'm convinced it gives a smooth plumping effect, tastes pretty lovely too : )

Glo & Ray LA AMO Creamy Shimmer Lip Colour | Wonderland Hydrating Lip Gloss

If you are London based it is definitely worth a trip to Top Shop in Oxford Street to check out this fabulous range, failing that the entire range is available online from

Shake Weight Roll My Experience

Shake Weight Roll My Experience

Hiya Darlins

As you know I am always looking for ways to shed a few pounds, and to be fair I could probably be called lazy when it comes to exercise, I am no gym bunny by any standards although I do like to do a bit at home, when I was presented with the opportunity to try out Shake Weight Roll, I admit to having a little grin and thinking oh here we go another gimmick that I won't use.

Shake Weight Roll My Experience

Also to be honest I really couldn't see how hard it could be to shake a plastic gizmo..............WRONG on all counts, I have seen Shake Weight in the past and dismissed it as not being "real" exercise, on arrival I gave it a little shake, still not convinced,  Mr LB came home from work and I was keen to show him my new gizmo thinking he would totally take the mickey out of me, as he is is a gym bunny and thinks you need to pay money to do "real " exercise, but he promised to give it a go with me that evening.

Shake Weight Roll My Experience

The Shake Weight Roll comes with a blow up cushion to kneel on protecting your joints, a DVD of an 8.5 minute work out and an exercise chart.  We decided that 8.5 minutes would be a breeze and we could get it over and done with before settling down in front of the telly box.
I wish I had used a video camera, it was hysterical, Mr fitness couldn't even manage 5 minutes let alone 8.5 he was positively sweating, and throwing out a few expletives about how it isn't possible to find it that hard !
next it was my turn, although I had already done an ab workout just laughing at him, I couldn't do 3 minutes, oh my lord this thing is deceptive, the exercises themselves are really simple, there is no rocket science to it, but unbelievably effective, talk about raising your heart rate !  The instructor on the DVD is clearly as fit as a butchers dog and makes it look oh so simple ( insert rude name here ) I just looked like a sweating heap.

Not one to be beaten I continued with my new toy over couple of weeks and actually found it a little bit easier every day, the thing about it is that you don't spend time faffing around setting anything up, and anyone can find 8 minutes in a day, that's it, you are left feeling better, smug and satisfied that you have actually worked out and guilt free if the odd piece of cake happens to fall into your mouth.
Shake Weight Roll My Experience

I have taken two weeks off of doing these exercises as I have been totally floored by a virus, this morning I was back to only 5 minutes, but am not unhappy as I know that everyday will be a bit easier. This new improved version of the standard shake weight is also a roller, so a 2 in 1 piece of kit, I actually really like the rolling, you can totally feel it working on your tummy and it's actually not slightly boring.

Shake Weight Roll My Experience

As well as the instructional DVD you can also find lots of workouts on YouTube should you want to mix up your routine.

DHC Beauty Lift Collection

Hiya Lovely Reader

Here I am again with another post about the fabulous brand DHC from Japan, you can find my other posts here Reservatrol, Liquid Liner  and DHC Velvet Skin Coat.

This time I was lucky enough to try out the DHC Beauty Lift Collection which contains a range of 4 products through from Toning to moisturising.

First up is Beauty Lift Lotion, £34.00 This clear toner prepares cleansed skin for moisture, containing Oat kernel extract which provides moisture, this refreshing toner provides the perfect base, applied with cotton wool it leaves your skin fresh but not tight or dried out.

Beauty Lift Essence. £35.00 A beautifully smooth soft serum, designed to give the skin a smoother, lifted appearance, containing an advanced formula of botanicals, peptides and Olive oil this serum was a joy to use, it applied easily only needing one pump, absorbed well leaving a smooth coat ready for moisturiser.

Beauty Lift Milk.  £34.00 This is a lightweight milky textured moisturiser is said to give a more lifted appearance and minimise fine lines to give a smoother looking complexion, This was lovely to use, but I honestly could have skipped this stage as the serum alone gave a great base.

Beauty Lift Cream. £41.00 I loved this rich intensive moisturiser, you really only need a tiny amount as a little goes a long way, while it is incredibly hydrating it isn't greasy and really does leave a great finish for make up, I have also been using this as a night cream over the Beauty Lift Milk, and have noticed a firmer bounce and lots of hydration first thing in the morning.

To Sum up, I loved all four of these products, they were a sheer joy to use. My only gripe with this range from DHC are the names of the products, I think they could be a little confusing on first glance, but being a Japanese brand they can be forgiven.
If funds allow |I would say use all four together, having said that you could totally skip the Beauty Lift Milk and do a 3 stage routine of Beauty Lift Lotion followed with Beauty Lift Essence and Beauty Lift Cream for both day and night.

There is nothing to fault with this range, It is great value for money for what I would consider high end results. If you wanted to try just one product from the range I would say go with the Cream it gives excellent value for money being used both day and night.

Dressing Sexy at 60

Hi My Darlins

This is a bit of a random post, it's one of those where the thought popped into my head and I wanted to share.  While I am a few months off of being 60 it made for a catchy title :)

Is it possible to be sexy at 60 ?  what is sexy even ?  I have heard it said that we either dress for men or other women, I personally don't hold with this view, I do however get the theory behind it, there are women, and yes we all know at least one that clearly dresses for the attention of the male species, to be honest this does kind of amuse me, as we all know that most men are simple creatures and whilst a certain part of their anatomy may appreciate this look, they ain't taking you home to meet the family !

Dressing for other women ?  well that's nice and possibly more normal, but to be honest I really don't care if you like my outfit, in the nicest way possible, I'm happy if you do but I don't get dressed aiming to please anyone, I do me, and on that note this is where the thinking behind this post comes from.

At a certain age we have to concede to the fact that certain body parts should not under any circumstances be on display, unless of course you are on a remote Island off Bora Bora when the only thing you could scare is the wildlife :)  but under normal daily circumstances I think it's de rigour to keep it covered, UNLESS it's a cheeky showing of a random body part that we don't give a lot of thought to !

Shoulders..........yep, stay with me here, how bloody lovely are shoulders, ha ha I bet you haven't given them a lot of thought on a daily basis, but I have been a lover of off shoulder clothing for years, baggy tee shirts that just happen to slip off one shoulder, bardot style tops, and now........how lucky are we that it's the fashion to have a wardrobe full of what are called cold shoulder tops, I have spent years searching out this style from the states and now the UK shops are full to the brim of this fab style that totally suits any age, the only downside being that at our age they may be a bit chilly and the look gets totally spoiled by a cardi LOL.

How do you feel about showing off your bits ? is it something you happily do ? let me know your thoughts.

Ingenious Beauty Ultimate Collagen +

Hi Darlins

now it's no secret to any of you that I am a huge fan of Collagen supplements, I really do believe that looking after yourself is not just a case of throwing on skin care products and hoping for the best. also when we think of skin care and boosting collagen we automatically think of the face, my personal experience with collagen supplements has gone much further than the increased benefits to my facial skin and \I have noticed improvements in lots of other areas.

When you are younger it is easy to ignore the skin on your body and just give your legs a quick moisturise after shaving, but it's only as the clock ticks forward do you begin to notice things like the skin on your inner arms and the skin on your tummy not being as taught as it was, of course we are not going to look like 20 year olds imagine stretching and old knicker elastic for years and expecting it to ping back !  not happening, but with the use of collagen you can give it a little help, and I can with my hand on heart say that I have seen some improvement in these areas.

I am not going to go into the whole science of collagen, you could easily google it or read my previous posts.

Ingenious Beauty Ultimate Collagen + really is a super easy way of ensuring you get your daily dose of inner beautification, 10 years in the making these little pills contain the highest quality marine collagen peptide, astaxanthin and pure natural hyaloronic acid, which can absorb up to 1000 times its own weight in water which leads to an increase in hydration and firming of the skin.

It is instructed that you take 3 capsules before bed as the pills are more readily absorbed when the body is sleeping, we enter alpha sleep mode within 45 - 90 minutes of sleeping, this is called ( the rejuvenation mode ) and is the perfect time for the supplements to work.

Another of the benefits I have noticed while taking these supplements is increased nail growth and condition, I have also heard from other people that have uses this brand is that they have noticed and increase in hair growth, I have my hair cut so often it is impossible for me to confirm this, but if my nails are anything to go by I have no reason to disbelieve it.

Available from

Have you tried Beauty Supplements ? would love to hear your thoughts.

Back In The Game

Hiya Darlins

apologies for being MIA for the last couple of weeks, maybe you have enjoyed the break from my constant rambling :)

I have been totally floored by a revolting Virus, the lickle beastie started off as a sore throat and temperature, and as we do as women I dismissed it as ( just a cold )  ohhhh noooo I totally underestimated the power of this devil, every single day It struck me with something new, and instead of improving daily as I expected I ended up worse and worse, with no sleep a bleeding throat, a closed eye and culminating in a hideous chest infection,  so a vision of loveliness I certainly wasn't, I think I probably attempted to get dressed twice in the 13 days I was poorly, like 99% of women I never ever take to my bed and usually battle through, not this time, I got up for the bathroom only.

Eventually having tried twice to get a doctors appointment and failed, my daughter took the bull by the horns, got the appointment and rang with the words " get dressed you are going to the Doctors in 15 Min's I am on my way"  not one to be messed with my girl, the poor receptionist probably didn't know what hit her.

So there I was with the doctor getting anti biotics and being told off for not visiting earlier !  I was too tired to argue lol.

Within a couple of days I managed to sleep through a whole night, and am now back in the game, so my apologies to all  the companies and PR agencies that are cursing me for not attending appointments for two weeks and not getting my work out, I have been having my own pity party for one.

I 100% hope that you all manage to avoid these horrible bugs that are going around, stay safe and warm.

Bargain Make Up Brushes of the Century

Hiya Darlins

Pretty right ?  I have to start by saying I do not need another brush, I probably have enough to last me as long as I will be painting this old face of mine, that said........just look, the shiny shiny colours and perfectly baby soft bristles.

Bargain Make Up Brushes of the Century

I know that right now some of you really clever girls are looking at this going, oh but it's not a MAC or a Zoeeva $$&%(&(^(^(  and you are right, they aint. But I am no make up artist either and for a lot of us ladies of a certain generation that fact that we even own brushes let alone know the flippin numbers is a miracle in itself.  I must admit that I actually like the whole playing make up with brushes sponges etc,  whether I actually know what I am doing is another matter, as long as the end result doesn't scare small children and animals I know I'm good to go.

Bargain Make Up Brushes of the Century

I will hold my hands up and say I have watched YouTube videos and lasted after such tool perfection, but surely that's the point, to make us lust.  I personally could not justify in this lifetime £60++++ pounds for a make up brush.

The brushes I currently own are The whole set from Make Up Revolution in Rose Gold, why did I buy them ?  ahem "Rose Gold "   turns out they were good brushes into the bargain lol,  I also have a go to collection of Lab2 brushes which are a marvel for old birds like me, each one has it's use printed on the handle !!  These were gifted to me by Lab 2, and are probably the most used.

My reason for buying this new set of 7 shiny shiny babies was the price, nothing more nothing less, The whole flippin set including postage was £5.88  YEP £5.88.

Having used them I cant see the difference in any other brush that I own, they wash well, go back into shape, and the thing that REALLY shocked me was no hair loss.

Even If I don't use these brushes ever again, that make fab photo props, so win win.

The Little Black foundation brush was a separate purchase again, works well, although I have yet to decide if these brushes are better than flat foundation brushes with a blender, but again such a stupid price, I was there click clicking away !  £2.58 including postage.

Vichy Neovadiol Compensating Complex Advanced Replenishing Care

Hi Darlins

I recently wrote a review on the Vichy Neovadiol Compensating Complex Concentrate  a range developed by Vichy specifically for Menopausal skin, and in this post I want to bring you the sister product in the Neovadiol Compensating Complex range, Advanced Replenishing Care.

This rich silky cream as a cushion effect that literally glides on to your skin, it absorbs beautifully and leaves no greasy residue. I literally used this on bare skin, applied a primer and my foundation lasted a good few hours without any signs of shine.  The gorgeous pearly jar contains 50ml of product and should last a decent amount of time as you don't actually need a lot. Available for Normal/Combination skin and also for Dry Skin.

This cream is designed to work alongside the Neovadiol Compensating Complex Concentrate, and the duo are aimed at targeting the loss of density and definition that the skin loses during Menopause.
I personally found they were just as good as stand alone products, but are ideal as a combination  if you like to layer your moisture.

There is something comforting about Vichy as a brand, you know that there is science behind the products, Vichy Laboratories have been at the forefront of menopausal skincare research for over 17 years. Neovadiol is the first skincare range ever developed to deal with menopausal skin,  but also It's a name we have grown up with and have come to trust.

Denim Mini Skirt

Hiya Darlins

I just saw an ad on a very trendy clothing site for denim mini skirts, apparently they are the "new" thing.

One of the joys of being a old crone is that nothing is "new" anymore and you can have a little grin to yourself at the thought that once in your life you were trendy, the downside being is that had you have been a clothing hoarder you could have made a killing selling your trendy wares on Depop.

It wasn't 5 minutes ago that denim mini skirts were only available in charity shops, and only sold to the kind of girl that had blue white corn beef legs, and wore flip flops in the snow, that said at this age everything seems like 5 minutes ago when it reality it was donkeys years.  I am very much in the " I will wear what I want"  camp, don't tell me what I can wear at this age blah blah , that said, a denim mini skirt ?   nahhhhhh

It's funny though as I am totally contradicting my usual views about age having no barrier when it comes to clothing, but actually it does I guess, at what age is a body con bandage dress unacceptable ?  shorts in winter ? or the fore mentioned denim mini skirt ?   how many times have you stood and lusted after a pair of sky scrapper high shoes, knowing full well that you would either fall over and break your neck or walk like a new born giraffe ?   me personally tons of times lol, shoes were always my thing, and shamed as I am to say it I will buy a pair that I 100% know I will never walk in, just in case by some miracle my powers of balance redeem themselves.

When did we become Comfy ?  when did the idea of buying shoes a size too small because that's all they had in the shop and you had to have them, seem abnormal ?

I have depressed myself enough now,  and it's time to sleep dreaming of padded insoles and cardi's.

UFIT Protein Nutrition Drink

 Hi again gorgeous

Protein drinks are nothing new and there are thousands of different ones to choose from, in fact it's pretty complicated market if you are new to protein, I am not going to go into the benefits and science of it all that information is easy to find with a google search, what I will say though is that I am a massive fan of protein and use it daily.

I was really lucky to meet Co Owner Huw Miller recently from the Ufit Protein Drinks Company, we chatted about the product and protein content etc, where he explained to me the magic of the bottle containers these drinks come in, I have no idea how it works but they need no refrigeration and are perfectly chilled at all times !  amazing, you can leave them for a day in your gym bag, and lo and behold a chilled drink for when you are ready :)

Now to the taste. as you can see they contain 22g of protein which makes them no lightweight drink, I tried both the Strawberry and Chocolate and can honestly describe them as divine, if you have a sweet tooth, these really do hit the spot.   I have been using these this past week as part of my diet.  I logged back into fitness pal and aimed for 10k a day steps of my fitbit,  I didn't make 10k a day, I did however incorporate these drinks into my 1200 cal a day allowance and am delighted to say this week I lost 6lb.  NOW  I am not saying it was all down to these drinks, but I am saying they certainly helped, I had one for breakfast and one for lunch on busy days as meal replacements, they are not sold as these but it worked for me.

My next step, is to get back to some weight training, and I will be trying out the Ufit Pro50 shake with a whopping 50 grams of protein.

My understanding is that UFIT is available from most leading supermarkets, Or Here

Dermovia Lace Your Face Mask

Dermovia Lace Your Face Mask UK
Hiya Darlins

It is no secret to my regular readers that I am just a little bit obsessed by face masks, I could absolutely do one daily with no shame at all. ( I don't but could ) I don't think there is anyone who hasn't seen me in one, including the postman and the British Gas man.

I couldn't have been more delighted to try out the Dermovia Lace Your Face Mask. I love lace and I love masks so sounded like one to try.  Before I go into the ingredients of this mask I want to talk about the mask itself as it's unlike anything that I have ever tried, it is called shapewear for your face  !    it is totally unbelievable, on opening the sachet you are presented with a product soaked little folded parcel, on unfolding, you place the lace side onto your skin and remove the protective layer, this is where the magic really happens...........Shapewear, yes it is, totally, the fabric has a stretch to it that makes it fit 100% perfectly to the contours of your face, it has loops to pop over your ears, and the lower part of the mask fits under your chin in a lifting motion with loops to again pop over your ears, so it's actually like a mini face lift, un- freaking-believable !!!  it was so comfortable having your face hugged with beauty product, I could have quite happily left it on for longer than the recommended 15 minutes.

I am going to scare you now with a picture of me actually wearing the mask.  ( The things I do for a blog post )

Dermovia Lace Your Face Masks come in 8 varieties, I tested the Exfoliating Papaya said to resurface and refine.
It is packed with a list of all natural ingredients including: Papaya enzyme extract to polish the skin, Sea Water to unclog, Marine Collagen to resurface, Cucumber Extract to energise and Chamomile Extract to soothe.

Apart from feeling fantastic during use, the result was fabulous, I was left with plenty of serum left on my face and neck to massage in, and once absorbed the result was totally obvious, my skin not only felt smooth but looked somehow refreshed and brighter, this result was still noticeable to me the next day, I think you get to know your own face and skin so well, that you can  visually spot if something has worked for you.

You can use this mask more than once, and are advised to rinse it out and replace into the serum that is left over in the sachet. ( there was plenty )  I sealed mine up with a clip and popped it in the fridge where I always keep masks, if you don't like yours chilled, you can run the pack under the hot tap or leave it to warm up in a bowl of hot water.

I can 100% say I would use this mask again, without a hint of hesitation.

If you are US based you can purchase these directly from www.dermovia.com in the UK they are available from Fenwick Bond St

Laura Geller 20 Shades Of Shadow Palette

Hi Darlins

I was very lucky to be introduced to this eye shadow palette from Laura Geller it came at just the time I was eyeing up two palettes a quad from Charlotte Tilbury at £38.00 for 4 shades and a Dior palette at £42.00 for 5 shades.

This  Laura Geller palette is £45.00 for 20 shades  (as the name suggests) and comes with a huge mirror and a double ended brush, Flat one end and angled the other, please note, I kept the plastic film on the mirror for my photo's as I kept getting glare.

It has the most amazing range of baked colours that have been made in Italy, they can be used either wet or dry,  I prefer to use them dry as I like a softer look, the pigment when used dry is great, the shadows are so finely milled they almost feel creamy the brush loads easily and they stay beautifully crease free all day, I do use a primer, and if you prefer more colour payoff used wet they really do give the wow factor. I am no make up artist so find more subtle shades easier to work with, the darker shades were perfect used as liners or just applied to the outside edges of my eye.

The range of shades is so cleverly put together in mattes, shimmers and sparkles, you could be as subtle or as wild as your hearts desire and the angled end of the brush allows you to use the colours as liners.

I do have quite a few eye shadow palettes but keep reaching for this one as it's rare for me to love so many of the shades at one time.

I really hope my photo's do the shades justice they really are lovely, and I could imagine them suiting everyone, it is one of those make up items that you just enjoy looking at the shades are so perfect.

The Stawberry Trick

Hiya Darlins

I had to share this clever little trick with you as taught to me by my Grandaughter, the easiest way in the world to remove the stalks from Strawberries.

Simply insert a straw ( plastic is best ) into the base of the Strawberry and push it through.

The core and the stalk literally slide out in the straw !!!

Flipping genius.

You are left with perfect berries ready to eat :)

Happy Strawberries and cream days.
