Solait Dry Oil | Solait Two Sided Mitt | Solait Tanning Wipes. Superdrug

Solait Dry Oil | Solait Two Sided Mitt | Solait Tanning Wipes. Superdrug

Hi Loves

I don't know about you but I am beginning to get a little bit excited every time the sun pops it head out lately, it feels like forever that we have been layered in jumpers and hibernating.

If you are anything like me with this excitement also comes dread, the dread that is.....exposing the white bits, who knew your legs could turn almost blue white ?  as wrong as it is, I like to tan, despite the pale and interesting looks the magazines bring us, I feel better with a tan, well obviously at the moment it can't be real, so for the sake of not scaring the neighbours I always fake it first off.  Again this is something that can fill you with dread, patchy bits alongside orange knees, heels and palms !

Solait Dry Oil | Solait Two Sided Mitt | Solait Tanning Wipes. Superdrug

I have recently discovered the Solait range from Superdrug, and the super impressive Solait Dry Oil, which as it turns out is the easiest thing to use ever ! firstly the smell is great ( no biscuit smell ) instead a tropical fruity holiday fragrance, if that makes sense ?  The product is lightly tanned in colour which allows you to easily see where it is being applied, preventing any missing patches.

I used the spray directly onto my body which I had previously exfoliated, I then used the double sided tanning mitt to smooth it all over ensuring no patches, this product is not oily or greasy it absorbs really well and has moisturising properties such as Argan Oil, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, it intstantly gives you a glow which develops further over time, unlike most tanning products I used this during the day as it was easy just to get dressed and go with no mess.

Solait Dry Oil | Solait Two Sided Mitt | Solait Tanning Wipes. Superdrug

The result is a healthy looking golden colour that lasts for days, if you are a lover of darker tans you can apply this in several applications.  In order to keep the tan topped up I have been using the Solait tanning wipes for a quick whip over, nothing could be easier to use than these, although be sure to wash your hands as you are touching the product while using. Again these have a good fragrance and deliver a great colour, they can be used alone if you want a quick and easy tanning method, I am looking forward to using both of these products to keep a real tan going, once the sun really does it's thing.

Routine Love it or Hate it

Hiya Loves

Just thought I would put these thoughts out there as it is something that I have been giving a lot of thought to recently.

Routine do you love it ? or do you fight against it ?
Like it or not from small children our lives are ruled by it, probably starting with your Mum  feeding you every four hours
( that's deep ) but seriously every single aspect of our lives is routine in one way or another, from getting ready to get to school on time as a child, to the 9-5 we find ourselves in as adults, on a personal level I have always hated routine, it has always felt as though life was forcing me into this box of doing the " right " thing, my kids were at school on time, sometimes mistakenly on a Saturday :)  I was never late for work/appointments etc as though there was a prize for perfection at the end of it, I did it all, hating every single second of this forced lifestyle, my poor children ( I was a single parent for 10 years ) had weekdays full of  "hurry up we are going to be late" to weekends of  " Mum when are we having dinner ?"    at weekends I rebelled the forced perfection and timing went out of the window.
Eventually the birdies flew the nest, I was working full time in my own business and had the opportunity to really kick back and do things my way, other than being at work on time, I could pretty much do as I pleased, so what did I do ?  came home from work at the same time, put the kettle on at the same time everyday and arrived at the gym at the same time every day, taking Thursday nights off from the gym to clean the house as though my life depended on it, for it to be nice to come home to on Friday nights with the weekend ahead !  what on earth ?  I was giving myself the one thing I had spent my life rebelling against.

Moving on, I am now at home full time blogging, I can get up whenever I want, eat when it suits, in truth do whatever I want whenever I want, apart from 5.00 when "him indoors" arrives home and dinner is on the table by 5.30 my life is pretty much chaos, and guess what ?  yep you guessed, I hate it !  it's all so disorganised I feel lost, I feel as though I have lost purpose and wander aimlessly through most days not achieving very much at all, everyday blends into the next, unless I go into London for a blogger event or meeting.  Every Sunday night I go to bed with the thought that this week I shall get up at a certain time and work my day in a timed list, LOL truth being told the man brings me tea and 5.30 I spend hours on social media before even thinking about starting the day, and every day when he returns at 5.00 I berate myself for having wasted yet another day with no plan, don't get me wrong, everything gets done, the house is clean, we are fed and watered, my animals are not due to be taken by the RSPCA but it all happens in a very as and when style, and I DON'T like it........ ha ha, well who knew eh ?  after years and years of fighting routine, it has taken me until 60 to realise I actually need it !

Please do give me your thoughts on this topic, if you didn't lose the will to live reading this I congratulate you, I know it was a long one.

So Eco Foundation Brush

So Eco Foundation Brush
So Eco Foundation Brush

Hi Darlins

Eco friendly make up brushes, how odd is it that this has never occurred to me before, I would like to think that I do my bit for the environment, I have various recycle bins, I put the food waste out every week, and I don't buy carrier bags, but in terms of being Eco Friendly that's a pretty miserable effort in truth.

So Eco Foundation Brush

I had never before even thought about something like a make up brush until the lovely people at So Eco introduced me to their brushes.

So Eco Foundation Brush

With 100% recyclable packaging, All of the components of the brush have been responsibly and ethically sourced, Sustainable bio degradable materials from PEFC Sources, even the little window on the box is made of corn starch.
Bamboo Handles, recycled Aluminium Ferrules and Taklon Bristles, I had to search Taklon and I found this.
Taklon is the common name for a synthetic fiber used in artist-quality paint, makeup and pin stripe brushes.

So Eco Foundation Brush

Even the printing on the packages is from Vegetable Ink.

So, how does the brush perform ?
Amazingly well I have to say, the Bamboo handle is lovely to hold and is especially shaped for comfort, but the best thing is that it won't roll off your table onto the floor !

The bristles are so soft it's hard to imagine they are synthetic, they pick up product really well and leave a smooth line free finish.   I can't get over the fact that this brush is only £3.99

Find these fab brushes by clicking the links below.

Is having Eco friendly brushes something you have ever considered ?

Grey Hair Colour from Colour Freedom Metallic Glory

Hiya Darlins,

Grey hair, at one time we did everything humanly possible to cover it up, nowadays us oldies are bang on trend, unfortunately unlike some of the gorgeous older models we are not completely grey, just that horrible peppered look that shows through roots, if like me,  you would be happy to be all over grey our luck is in.

Currently there are a huge array of products promising the all over grey look, trust me I have tried most of them over the last 9 months when I decided to ditch the blonde in favour of grey.  My Twitter and YouTube followers will have heard about and seen my attempts, I have certainly given Marge Simpson a run for her money, 90% of current on the market products have given me every permutation of Blue or Purple, even some of the shampoos that claim to remove the brass tones out of blonde in favour of Ash have given me lilac locks !!!!

Grey Hair Colour from Metallic Glory | Colour Freedom

Well no more !

I am here to tell you I have just discovered the VERY BEST home colour for grey, Once again I picked this up thinking "here we go"  The box looked so promising I thought it was just another gimmick on the grey trend train.

Grey Hair Colour from Metallic Glory | Colour Freedom

Grey Hair Colour from Metallic Glory | Colour Freedom

This product is the absolute bees knees, it gave me the perfect shade of silver grey all over and turned out identical to the shade shown on the box.......that never happens, and not a single hint of blue or lilac, I must admit to getting pretty excited as it was developing, it was GREY while it was doing it's magic, no purple in sight.

It washed out like a dream, and I was literally left with the colour I would have wished for had I have gone to the Salon.

Grey Hair Colour from Metallic Glory | Colour Freedom

Colour Freedom comes in 5 shades of grey, so whether you want light grey, graphite grey through to black, you will find the perfect shade of grey for you.

Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara

Kevin Aucoin The Expert Mascara
Kevin Aucoin The Expert Mascara

How many mascara's do we buy in the hope of finding the holy grail of lashes ?  I can't even count how many I have tried this year and to be honest most don't event make the pages of this blog, if I don't like something I am sure as heck not going to write about it.

Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara

Kevyn Aucoin is a brand that I don't have a huge amount of experience with but being a top Hollywood make up artist to the likes of Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford for Vogue he clearly knows a thing or twelve about make up, there is however one product from the brand that I wouldn't live without and that is the Sensual Skin Enhancer I was convinced I had written about this but having done a search I realise I haven't so will remedy that soon, back to the Expert Mascara;

Kevin Aucoin The Expert Mascara
Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara

It comes in the shades Black and Bloodroses I tried Black and found it to be the deepest shade of black ever, it has a curved double sided brush which applies the thick creamy formula in one coat, two coats and you really are looking at a night time wow effect, it thickens, lengthens and curls the lashes in a pretty impressive one coat, I personally love a curved brush as long as it isn't over thick and bushy and I found this one perfect in that it didn't place the formula anywhere other than my lashes, it latest exceptionally well through a full day with no Panda eye or flaking and when it came to the evening I literally added another coat and was good to go.
Fragrance and Paraben free I would imagine it would be suitable for even the most sensitive eyes.

DHC Olive Corn Body Scrub and Polish  |  DHC Olive Body Butter

Hiya Gorgeous

What is it about a bit of sunshine that suddenly sends us into body panic ?  all those area's that you know you should have look after over Winter are suddenly looking a bit dry and grim, if you are anything like me I know you meant to do it everyday, but somehow just didn't, way warmer to jump out of the shower and straight into something cosy, I know that feeling !

DHC Olive Corn Body Scrub and Polish | DHC Olive Body Butter

DHC Olive Corn Body Scrub and Polish | DHC Olive Body Butter

But now we have those neglected bits to deal with before we face exposing them to daylight, as regular readers know I am addicted to exfoliation of every kind be it face or body, and my favourites from Japan DHC skincare have just launched the most beautiful body scrub/polish.  As we have come to love from them it is based on Olive Oil, contains both Vitamin E and Lavender Oil and the scrubby part is made up of both large and small grains of corn cob powder, I am in love with this it exfoliates without being harsh it has the fragrance of Lavender although not heavy in a granny Lavender bag way, but gentle and soothing, once you have exfoliated and rinsed you could at this stage leave your skin with nothing on as you will be left soft and smooth and the product does leave a moisture layer on the skin:

DHC Olive Corn Body Scrub and Polish | DHC Olive Body Butter

However if like me you need a little more care and attention to counteract the naughty neglect you can then follow with with Olive Body Butter either all over or on specific areas that need extra help, I found this perfect for knees, heels, elbows and shins, while it is called butter I would describe it more as a balm and a tiny bit really does go a long way, I can imagine this tub lasting me ages, it literally melts into the skin leaving it soft to the touch.

Gosh SS17 Eye Shadow Palette

Hi Loves
Continuing my thoughts on the New Gosh Copenhagen SS17 range it was time to discover the new Eye Expressions Palettes, here I have 2 out of the 3 to show you,
although I will add a picture from Gosh at the end of this post showing you the missing one.

This is 001 Back to Nature all palettes come in three matte shades and one highlight.

Gosh 001 Back to Nature

They are butter soft and really well pigmented, there was hardly any fall out at all when using these, in fact it is almost like applying a cream. As you can see
each palette has been designed in complimenting shades in line with the Urban Nature theme of the 2017 Spring/Summer collection.

Gosh SS17 Eye Shadow Palette
Gosh 003 Urban Nature

One of my favourite things about the quad palettes is that they are all product and don't contain either a useless little brush or those horrible sponge applicators that no one ever uses,  take note Dior you could learn from this ☺

Gosh SS17 Eye Shadow Palette
Gosh 002 Thunderstorm ( pic credit Superdrug )

The Gosh eyeshadow sweep 017 brush is the perfect match for this or any other shadow in your collection, the soft synthetic bristles pick up perfectly and are soft and gentle on the lid, the handle is perfectly weighted with an easy non slip grip.

At £8.99 these represent great value. Find the Gosh SS17 Eyeshadow here

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation
L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

Hiya Gorgeous

I was desperate to try the new L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation as I had read some amazing reviews from Bloggers and the thing that attracted me was that they were saying while it gives full coverage and has a matte look the finish is dewy rather than flat matte. I know for sure I can't wear flat matte as it highlights lines, making me look like the living dead.

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

At £7.99 I thought it was a bargain, I don't "need" full coverage per say, but if I am going to wear a foundation I like to see it,  the texture of this is almost a thick mousse I applied it using 3 different methods, firstly with fingers, that was a definite no from me, it was like plastering a wall, a brush again made it way too thick and heavy, a damp beauty blender seemed the way to go, it gave a nice finish, not the kind of finish that you do a double take but it was nice, it did do what it says and gave full coverage that lasted, for that I would give it a huge thumbs up, it didn't need touching up at all during the day and lasted well into the night, what it did do on me however was creep into the lines, is this the fault of the foundation ?  I don't think it is, they don't claim it to be for mature skin but it didn't work for me, I have now tried it about 5 times and nope, it's not one that would buy again.  Sorry L'Oreal this time I am not a fan.

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation
L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

If you are of younger years I would give this a try, all those blogs can't be wrong, it just didn't work for my skin which is Normal/Mature.

Burt's Bees Lipstick
Burt's Bees Lipstick

Hi Loves

Burt's Bees, what do you think of when you hear this name ?  if like me, just lip balm springs to mind, you will probably be as surprised as I was to discover this beautiful company is much much more than that. You can read their gorgeous story

Burt's Bees Lipstick Shade 515 Tulip Tide

The latest addition are 18 shades of highly pigmented moisturising lipsticks that while looking fabulous will nourish your lips for up to eight hours !  I have been testing out 3 of these of late and have to say I have been incredibly impressed, they colour like the very best lipstick but feel lightweight and nourishing while you wear them, it feels as though you are wearing nothing at all.  I adore the packaging, and you will need to forgive me as I have just realised I have photographed them upside down, not that they look any less gorgeous, they remind me of little coloured Bee hives.

Burt's Bees Lipstick Shade 524 Wine Wave

They are 100% natural, and packed full of moisturising ingredients including Raspberry seed oils, Beeswax and Moringa, all encased in the prettiest recyclable packaging, so not only doing your lips good, the packaging won't harm the environment.

Burt's Bees Lipstick

I am surprised just how much I love these and excited to look into this brand a whole lot more, if this is an example of Burt's Bees goodness then I'm in !
