Vichy Ideal Soleil Double Usage After Sun Oil

Following on from my Vichy Invisible Hydrating Mist SPF50 post I wanted to add this for the complete tanning duo, stay with me here, you will love this it's not just after sun ( said in the M&S advert voice ) this is Vichy Double Usage After Sun.





I am so in love with this product I cant even tell you, well I am about to so that's a lie !
One of the best feelings after being in the sun all day is your early evening shower before getting ready for a night out, one of the worst things about this time, is being slathered in after sun and hanging around waiting for it to soak in and dry off enough to get dressed, all the while feeling hot and bothered.  The New Double Usage After Sun Oil solves that problem completely, you can use this spray one of two ways, my personal favourite is in the shower........yep !  you heard it right, in the shower :) simply wash, rinse, apply spray to wet skin, rinse and get out, how brilliant is that ?  I love it. The fragrance is summer in a bottle containing summer notes of ocean spray and white flowers. Containing shea oil and a variety of vegetable oils such as apricot kernel, coriander seed , blackcurrant seed and echium which are all rich in fatty acids to leave your skin soft and fully moisturised.

You can of course spray the oil directly onto dry skin, a thin layer is all that is needed of this super fine lightweight oil.

Whichever method you use this soothing spray, softens, and hydrates beautifully after a day in the sun.

The sun is back after a fairly dull weekend, and so I am back with the SPF50, as I have said in previous posts I was the worst kind of person years ago when it came to literally cooking my skin, nowadays I know better and treat it with more respect 
( better late than never ) I say.




Vichy are a brand that I always think about in terms of trust and quality, Vichy was my very first grown up cleansing routine at 17 and while I may move away from the company it always stays with me as a kind of 100% trust brand.  Saying this I was delighted to give this new Hydrating Mist a lil trial run, and of course we have had the very best sunshine in which to test it to it's fullest, using this is more like a protective cool down, the fine clear mist is water resistant, non sticky and instantly dry which really helps anyone who suffers from heat rash, it is quite simply a joy to use, if you have ever used you will know what I mean by it being refreshing, as for the protection factor, It was first class for me, I am happy tanning without burning, knowing my skin is being moisturised at the same time.




Although this isn't specifically designed for children I would imagine it to be a godsend, how many times do you have to wrestle them to try an get cream on ? they are so impatient to have fun they argue the toss with cries of 
"I don't want that on "  this way you can hose them down in goodness ! quick and easy with hopefully very little complaining.

Bio Extracts Advanced Eye Contour Collection

You have seen me write about Bio Extracts previously when I reviewed the entire range of Facial treatments, you can read it here.
New to the table is a specifically designed range to look after your eye area.

Just in case you are not familiar with the concept of the Bio Extracts advanced delivery system I will run through it briefly here, The Sealed pump system jar of Eye Contour Age Defying Cream contains the companies unique Multi-Lamellar system, which has been formed with a structure similar to your natural skin and mimics the skins own natural layers to act like a hydrating patch, in my head I always think of this as the carrier for the boosters, as you will see the boosters come in an air tight syringe applicator, the idea is that you add a pump of booster to a pump of the Eye Contour Cream and mix your own formula,  This is not as complicated as it may sound, there are two types of booster for the eyes, Brightening Booster (orange) to brighten and illuminate the eye area, ideal for those of us that don't get enough good sleep, and Lift and Firm booster which concentrates on plumping and moisturising the eye contour area.

These boosters can be used alone or mixed together, it is recommended that you use the Brightening boost in the morning and the Lift and Firm booster (purple) for night time, you can use up to four pumps of any combination you chose, depending on your needs for that day.  I am not usually a lover of eye cream as I find it tends to make me look puffy around the eyes and leave me uncomfortable in the mornings, I have had no such problems with this product. The method I have been using is one pump of brightener added to one pump of the Eye Contour cream gently tapped around the eye area in the mornings, and the Lift and Firm again one pump to one pump of eye cream in the evenings.



Once again I really enjoy using these, I love the packaging and the fact that everything is airtight, I especially love the fact that you are tailoring your skincare based on what you believe are your own specific needs, I am hoping that somewhere along the road we will begin to see targeted area body products popping up from Bio Extracts.

As you already know I have a bit of a passion for the Brand DHC from Japan, I wanted to use this product post to talk a bit about the whole Japanese Beauty subject, why are we so obsessed about other cultures beauty regimes ?



The thing that bought me to these thoughts was DHC Face Wash Powder a combination of ingredients including Corn Starch ! Lavender and Honey, I recall back in the 80s when the Body Shop were obsessed with bringing us products from other cultures there was a Japanese chalk powder face wash which was said back then to be what Geisha's used, I didn't get on with it, however this is a totally different ballgame, yes it's powder but it is just the best thing ever to use, damp your face with warm water sprinkle a little powder into your palm, run hands gently together and begin to massage on your face, within seconds it has turned into a luxurious cream texture that removes dead skin cells to brighten up your complexion on the first use.  DHC say it turns into a lather, I would describe it more a face cream that a soap lather.  I flipping love it and it was this that got me thinking about the whole topic.



Japanese women consider skincare a ceremony not a routine it is taught to young girls from an early age and is as normal as brushing your teeth, looking after the skin is treated as a pleasure and a way to relax, this I think we are doing more and more in the West, they double cleanse followed with ( lotion) Toner to us, which is then followed with (Milk)  Moisturiser to us.  this ritual is followed both morning and evening, this four step routine is carried out as though it is all perfectly normal, as the idea ( and rightly so ) is that if the skin is not scrupulously clean it will not absorb whatever goodness you give it.

The craze of Sheet masks was developed from the ancient Geisha practise of laying Kimono silk that had been dampened in flower water on the skin.

Mei-nai Oshareh / unseen beauty is the true belief behind Japanese Beauty, believing beauty that radiance comes from inner beauty and confidence, which is something we could all use.

The B. for beauty range at Superdug is truly an underestimated brand, it has an extensive skincare range I recently wrote about the B. Nourished cooling mask which was gorgeous, and intend to look into this skincare range further, as if the mask was anything to go by this could be a super impressive trial.
   The brand have relaunched their Vegan, Cruelty Free Make up range and I have a few items to chat to you about.

B. Luminous Lipstick



These come in 8 shades and have exceptional colour payoff, they contain jojoba which not only feels great it moisturises the lips leaving them looking soft and smooth, these lipsticks have a creamy waxy texture and are incredibly soft and comfortable on the lips. I am adding the shade Pillow Talk to my shopping list as it looks to be the perfect nude.

B. Matte Liquid Lipstick

Liquid Lipsticks come in 8 shades from pale to the very darkest Super pigmented, non drying liquid lipstick containing Olea Europaea Fruit Oil which moisturises the lips while wearing, although these are non drying they are not sticky and the beauty being they don't end up dry and flaky as some liquid lipsticks do. 

B Lip and Cheek Tint



This perfect little compact is ideal to keep in your bag for when you want just a healthy looking flush of colour to your cheeks and or lips, it is a creamy almost waxy finish which give just the lightest hint of colour in a non fussy super quick application, these would be suitable for any skin type being non oily and not greasy. Available in 6 shades.

Alterna Caviar Anti Ageing Infinate Color Hold

I am really curious to get everyone's view on this topic, Anti Ageing for hair ? do we really need it ?

I must admit, when I have seen other brands promote names such as Pro V etc I have often thought ( ageing bandwagon ) and when I was approached by Alterna I will admit to being cynical to say the least, that said I am a firm believer in high end hair products giving a better result than cheapies, for many reasons.  Hair ageing is not a beauty gimmick to encourage us to part with our pennies, it's fact, our follicles betray us as we age, our hair suffers with pollution build up the same as everything else, and we are more likely to torture our hair now than ever before, we all know how wiry and dry grey hair left untreated can be, so even if you are a gorgeous chestnut brown on the box, you are possibly grey and wiry underneath, as my own hair started to turn more and more grey the condition was lacking, as I left it to grow out it failed me and wouldn't turn that gorgeous white grey that I lusted after, so I decided to packet colour it all over grey, so even at 60 I am still abusing the poor stuff, with dye and daily straighteners !

When using this conditioner I was pretty underwhelmed as the experience with the shampoo had been so luxurious I expected something similar from the conditioner, it was nice, easy to apply, again a small amount was enough, BUT it left my hair feeling amazing, as it rinsed through with the water it felt fabulous.

This serum is a great product, it acts as a dual purpose in that you can use it as a hair mask and also as a regular protection serum, I used the tiniest amount applied to damp hair after washing, as always with serum less is more, when my hair was dried it was super soft and needed less stying than usual, I also tried the serum as a hair mask,applied to dry ends and leaving it on for 30 minutes, the result again was fabulous, you could both see and feel the difference.

This spray is designed to seal and protect the hair give you gloss and protection from UV damage, it really is the finishing touch to the range and leaves your hair soft and silky with the most amazing shine, what I would say is don't overdo it with this product, you really only need a spritz to achieve the gloss, and more and you will end up with greasy looking locks, as such this bottle will last you literally forever, as always with this range less is more.

Overall I loved every product in the range, the combination of the four really gave salon results which is where you would usually find this brand, I liked the fact that it protected the colour and that the smallest amounts of each were all that was needed.

There is something about Summer that takes my fragrance choices into 2 categories that often combine, fresh citrus and floral.

Boucheron Paris developed Place Vendome in 2013 named after the street the Perfume House owner Frederick Boucheron had his first jewellery shop back in 1893 the perfume is said to symbolise 150 years of gems and light.

Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom and Rose are the first impressions of this fragrance followed by Jasmine and honey with a base note of cedar wood, it really is quite a contradiction in my opinion, I want to say light and floral but it has a beautiful warmth that I imagine comes from the Honey, it is not in the slightest cloying or heavy but the smallest spritz really does provide lasting power that you wouldn't need to top up all day unless you wanted to.  The heavy weight glass bottle with it's raised quilted diamond effect said to reflect the paving stones of Place Vendome is topped with a smokey gem housed in gold. This is not a bottle you will want to hide away, but as always with fragrance NO sunlight please.




A beautiful elegant fragrance that has a classic history and fabulous lasting power.

When this arrived I had never heard of it before, of course we are used to eye creams, cleansers, serums and even eye masks, but I had no clue what Eyebright™ was all about, well....it's a light liquid that is non oily and suitable for contact lens wearers that you literally use to brighten and freshen tired eyes, it is honestly gorgeous and I now keep mine in the fridge making it super cooling as an eye mask, simply soak 2 cotton wool pads and wipe over your eyes, alternatively again soak 2 pads and lay them across your eyes and relax for 10-15 minutes,  it's honestly eye heaven, so from not knowing what to do with I have now gone to not wanting to be without it !

As you already know I am crazy mad for exfoliation so this Gentle Face Exfoliator went straight to the top of my must try list, as always the clean fresh almost spa like fragrance that is synonymous with Liz Earle this is best applied after using your Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, of course it can be used after any cleanser as long as it is gentle, 2 pumps gently massaged into clean skin will buff away dead skin cells and help to unblock pores, 2-3 times a week is the recommendation, the thing I love about exfoliating is that in my mind I am forcing the skin to renew itself and that lovely fresh feeling of super clean skin.
I think this cleanser is for Liz Earle aficionados as it sits well within the whole range, followed by a spritz of Instant Boost Skin Tonic and your favourite Liz Earle Moisturiser and you are good to go. Containing a host of natural ingredients including Beeswax, Jojoba Beads and Sweet Almond Oil.

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush

Hi My Hot Sunny Darlins

As you can probably tell this weather has me as happy as a seagull with a chip !
that said, it is a make up killer !  applying the stuff in heat is a nightmare, trying to get it to last more than 5 minutes is a total pain and I think finding your "Summer face " is actually quite a skill, which brings me to Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush.  I have seen this product replicated by many companies but none seem to have got it down to perfection, often too thick or with to much glitter, nice enough but not good enough to beat the number one !

For me this is the number one, and especially so in this weather, the older I get the more I melt, I am not one of those beautiful continental women that still manage to look cool calm and collected in sweltering heat, nope I am the typical melting British Woman that struggles with looking decent in the heat while loving it at the same time, forget glamorous, decent is probably the best I will achieve in 30 degrees :)  Watercolour Blush is sheer liquid perfection that you simply shake and apply in tiny amounts to achieve the most natural "flush" of colour to your cheeks, if you are not a skilled make up artist, don't even worry, this is the easiest product you will ever apply it adds more of a candlelight glow than glitter because who ever had glittery cheeks ? and if, like me you are mature, I use that word tongue in cheek as grown up definitely out of the window for most of us !  the whole Daniel Sandler range is worth investigating I have found it to be exceptional quality that somehow works especially well for "Mature" faces.

Rose Glow

I have written about a couple of Daniel Sandler products previously which you can read here if you wish.  As always I urge to you to seek out Daniel on social media and YouTube, he is a marvel at producing tutorials that are easy to follow, and personally spends time online which is lovely as it makes it a personal brand that you can actually ask questions directly and get direct answers, now there are not many, if any companies that can give you that level of care, while staying bang up to date the company also provide what I would call old fashioned service which is something 99% of brands lack nowadays.

Cherub

I have shown here two examples of the Watercolour Blush in Cherub and Rose Glow which a new pastel pink-peach shimmer whilst these look very very similar shades in the packaging they are both completely different, when looking at the shade range ( there are 15 shades ) you may feel that they all look quite similar but trust me they aren't and the beauty is that you can buy sample shades to try out for a couple of pounds, which to me always shows confidence in a product.

Transformulas Hydration Gold

Summer looks like it's finally beginning to hit here in the UK, so less is probably more when it comes to make up,there is nothing worse than leaving the house feeling fine only to discover your face sliding of as the day progresses :)

If you have not used or heard of the Brand Transformulas before this could be the ideal product to start with, the company tag line is

Transformulas Hydration Gold concentrates a lot on the Anti-Age concept, the front of the package reads, Ageless Luxury, Anti-Ageing, Line Filling, while showing a picture of the most beautiful model of youth ever, that aside I was keen to try this product out, not only for the fact that am a magpie for anything gold, I had heard good things about the brand in general.




Contained in a glamorous 15 ml airtight pump container the formula containing 23 Carat gold powder aids hydration adds vitamins and feels super, super smooth on the skin, almost like a veil of hydration, you can literally feel it with your fingers like liquid silk.

When it comes to the Anti-Ageing claims, what I would say is that it does contain Hyaluronan which is famous for it's anti age properties, with this product I would say it's ability to give the impression of youthful skin outweighs any other claims, it is literally a joy to use, it works as one of the BEST highlighters for mature skin ever, you can use it as a glowing base for make up, as a highlighter or mix with foundation for an all over glow, my favourite method was as a highlighter, it was nothing less than amazing on mature skin, I find that a lot of powders sink in and draw attention to lines, this minimises the appearance of lines and just lifts the skin illuminating it while making you look brighter and more alive, I could imagine this being the only product you would need on holiday or with a tan, just a dash of gold on bare tanned skin would be fabulous, this for me is definitely a keeper, it is possibly one of the easiest products I have ever used to give such an instant gorgeous result.
