La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water

Hiya Darlins

A can of water ? yep it is indeed, but not just any old can of water, La Roche-Posay a little Village in France famous for it thermal springs and home to the fabulous beauty company of the same name have canned the finest spring water that is suitable for everyone and even pure enough for babies.

If you have never used a spring water spray before you are in for a treat, the fine mist that the spray produces not only moisturises it cools you down in this horrible weird Summer weather we are having, and if you are at the time of life where *tropical moments* are a problem this is a fantastic aid in cooling down the internal heater.

This for me has become one of those things that I possibly wouldn't have purchased, but now wonder how I lived without it.

DHC Olive Oil Cotton Swabs

Hello

Swab or Cotton Bud ? you decide.

These Japanese swabs from DHC are just simply genius, I did smile at the package wording, Olive Virgin Oil :)  nonetheless they are brilliant, 50 100% cotton buds pre soaked in Virgin Olive Oil each one wrapped individually for both Hygiene and ease of carrying, these little sticks of cotton wonderment are perfect, if like me you are prone to eye make up errors.

They are also gentle enough to use on babies, can be used to moisturise cuticles without dripping oil mess. and should you wish can be used on nose and ears !  we won't go there, and I most certainly will not be doing a selfie demonstrating the usage :)

DHC Olive Oil Cotton Swabs

I love DHC for bringing the best of Japanese skin care direct to the UK, regular readers will know that I feature them quite often, and can be found Here and other posts by using the search bar.

The thing with these, is once you try them you wonder how you lived without them, clever clever :)

Mary Kay Limited Edition Into The Garden Nail Polish | Varnish

Mary Kay Limited Edition Into The Garden Nail Polish | Varnish

Hello Gorgeous :)

Mary Kay ?  a name you have probably heard but are not overly familiar with, it's time for us to get familiar with this hit US brand.

I have three nail varnishes to bring you, from the Limited Edition Into The Garden Range, if you like floral and feminine these are definitely for you, I actually love the packaging and although we are not seeing any of it at the moment, it reminded me of Summer.

Starting with Sweet Lilac, no clue how this can be called Lilac it is the most gorgeous shade of soft grey, it is one of those shades that would literally go with anything.

Mary Kay Limited Edition Into The Garden Nail Polish | Varnish

Next up Pink Magnolia again the name does not match the actual colour, I think to be fair these names are in tune with the garden theme and are not designed to be descriptive, this shade is what I would call a pastel pink nude, lovely. The thing that really impressed me with this, was that it was true to colour when you apply it, unlike some pastels that literally paint on almost clear and need a zillion coats. not this one, I would say 2 coats max.

My Favourite of the three, if I had to pick would be Coral Blossom, seriously fabulous with a tan, to me this is the ideal Summer holiday shade, again only one or two coats needed.

Mary Kay Limited Edition Into The Garden Nail Polish | Varnish

I have to admit I was pretty impressed with these, the one downside for me is that they are not overly glossy,  this though is easily remedied  with a clear top coat.  They dry really quickly and are pretty tough, I tried to scratch off one coat withing half an hour of applying and there was no way it even dented !  an easy 4 days before they start looking a little worn, but I had no chips.

Mary Kay is available in the UK via consultants.  and can be found here  £9.00 7.5ml

Regime London Coconut Quench

Hiya Beautiful Peach Pop

As you know I am firm believer in supplements, and am firmly of the belief that regardless of what you put on your skin you cannot compensate for a bad diet and unhealthy lifestyle, Ohhhhhhh that sounded really pompous and it is not meant to be, I am partial to a curry occasionally and the odd glass/bucket of Prossecco, but by and large I do TRY to be good, especially when it comes to hydration, but I do struggle with the 2-4 litres of water we are supposed to gulp down on a daily basis, and as for all the trips to the loo, well don't get me started on how annoying that is !

But there is no doubt at all that you can truly spot well hydrated skin,  Drum roll...........Regime London Coconut Quench.   Is it a gimmick ?  at 19.99 for 30 days you would hope not.

I have taken these capsules now for a month, one a day with a full glass of water, each pill contains the equivalent to 4000mg of Coconut Water and 240mg  Hyaluronic acid, both of these are serious Buzz words at the moment in terms of beauty.  The virtues of all things Coconut have been around for a while now, and I doubt there is a home in the UK that has not tried a Coconut product in one form or the other, I have to be honest and say that Coconut water is an acquired taste, I think it's a Marmite thing, Love it or Hate it.

With these pills you can get your daily dose of nut goodness without the taste, and we all know the virtues of Hyaluronic acid when it comes to plumping skin cells.

Dry skin and dehydrated skin are two very different things, dehydration comes from the inside so a supplement to me makes sense.  And these were good, I know when my skin is lacking it's inner moisture from the dark under eye look, and I have to say these really did improve that sallow grey look, I would never dream of saying that you should replace H20 with pills, but It certainly doesn't hurt to give it a helping hand along the way, they also take away the guilt if you haven't quite managed to get your daily quota in.

Goldfaden MD Hands To Heart Anti-Ageing Hand Treatment

Hi Lovely

Let me start by saying that this product from Goldfaden MD is not a regular hand cream, it is a hand treatment, and as such isn't used every time you wash your hands, it is a once daily treatment at £35.00 you wouldn't want to use it 8-10 times a day, you only need it once and the 88ml tube will literally last forever.

It is described as a Multi Tasking solution for ageing hands.

I have been using this morning and night for a couple of weeks now, so more than the recommended once a day but I do like to use a hand cream last thing at night, so thought I would give them an extra treat with this cream.   I have to be honest and say my hands are incredibly dry, I don't look after them like I should, I often use neat bleach when I am cleaning, and never ever wear rubber gloves.  Bad bad woman !  so this treatment really did have it's work cut out.

Goldfadden MD Hands To Heart Anti-Ageing Hand Treatment

  • Hydrates dry and cracked hands.  Tick, for sure it does, 100% without a doubt.
  • Fades unwanted discolouration spots.  Tick, am seeing signs of gradual fading already after a couple of weeks.
  • Plumps and soothes damaged skin. Tick Tick Tick, you can see and feel a visible difference in the condition and texture of your hands.
I have tested hand creams for the purpose of this blog in the past costing up to £80+  bearing in mind these were creams which would be applied constantly, nothing so far has given the visible results that this hand treatment has shown.

I LOVE it !!

La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Masque

La Roche-Posay dates back to 1928 from a little French Spa Town by the same name, The Thermal Spring Waters are the basis for all of La Roche-Posay products

Hello My Loves

You already know my passion for scaring the postman in a face mask :)  this one is actually a little bit different.

The Company La Roche-Posay dates back to 1928 from a little French Spa Town by the same name,  The Thermal Spring Waters are the basis for all of La Roche-Posay products, and this mask is no different, designed for sensitive skin this hydrating creamy mask is literally a drink for your face.

Apply a generous layer to your face avoiding the eye area, leave for 10 minutes, and this is where I was a little bit thrown, your skin almost drinks up the whole of the mask ! you are instructed to remove the excess with cotton wool.  Here's the part I wasn't liking, I couldn't figure why you would not remove the mask after use ? this part didn't seem right to me, I was confused thinking I would be left with a greasy skin, and did I apply other products on top ?  and how would all of this pan out ?  I didn't seem right to me, my head was in the usual, rinse off, peel off place.

La Roche-Posay dates back to 1928 from a little French Spa Town by the same name, The Thermal Spring Waters are the basis for all of La Roche-Posay products

I followed the instructions, using the mask both morning and night on a couple of occasions, the daytime process was the one that shocked me the most, there was barely any mask to remove with cotton wool, my greedy skin had drank it all up ! a quick whisk over with a cotton wool pad, and I was left with really fresh looking plumped skin, that actually felt really good to the touch. Still confused I continued with my daily routine, and hoped for the best, I fully expected a shiny greasy face after a couple of hours.

Nope......make up stayed perfectly and skin still looked moisturised in the evening, pretty impressive huh ?

On using in the evening, I didn't wipe it off, I slept in it and the result was fabulous, although I did only use a thin layer for the sleeping part to save my bedding :)

Imedeen Prime Renewal

Hiya Darlins

This is just going to be a quick post as I wanted to let you into what happened with me today, I was recently contacted and asked if I would be interested in trying out Imedeen Prime Renewal which is specifically designed for women 50+ well as I fall into that category with a few more +++ I was delighted to give it a go.

Imedeen Prime Renewal

Before I started the 3 month course I needed my Collagen levels assessed and was visited at home by the lovely Emma, which took the form of a scan on my arm, the same sort of scan you would have on a baby bump, we wont discuss Emma's fantastic slim figure, I was tempted to feed her cake just to make myself feel better :)  Emma herself started out as a loyal customer of Imedeen way before joining the company.

Imedeen Prime Renewal

Should you be interested in starting a course of these 4 daily supplements I would recommend finding a Boots near to you where you can have a complete consultation and a Collagen scan with an Imedeen consultant, that way you can see at the end of your 3 months, visible results.   I am personally hoping to see an improvement in the moisture levels of my body skin, I suffer with very dry legs and Emma assured me I would see a difference.

One other thing that I really feel the need to share, and I really hope she won't mind me mentioning this, But Emma had the most gorgeous upper arms, you ladies of a certain age will know what I mean by the "arm thing "  no signs of this on Emma's arms, I couldn't help but stare and even mention how great they look, I think it's too easy to always focus on our faces, but tell tale signs of ageing appear in more than one place as we all know :)

Anyway, I will end here and return to this subject in 12 weeks, and we will see !!

Roger & Gallet Fluer de Figuier Perfumed Soaps

Roger & Gallet Fluer de Figuier Perfumed Soaps

Hiya Darlins

Now I don't know about you but I am not a soap person, which is a bit odd as I am of the generation that had nothing other than soap, and pretty basic stuff at that !

Roger & Gallet Fluer de Figuier Perfumed Soaps

I recently had the opportunity to try Roger & Gallet, Fluer de Figuier Soaps in a set of three.  these soaps come beautifully gift boxed and are individually wrapped in red tissue paper keeping then dry and fragrant.  On opening the box I was hit with what could only be described as a Mediterranean summer evening, the notes of Pink Peppercorn & Fig just fuse to give you a fruity warm fragrance , which you would imagine to be heavy and cloying, it isn't, it is a light definitely summer fresh scent that turns slightly musky as your body warms,  as I say I am not a regular soap user, but did use this soap on my body without any itching, which was a total shock to me! although incredibly fragrant it was also fairly mild.

Roger & Gallet Fluer de Figuier Perfumed Soaps

For me personally, this little round bar filled the bathroom with the most gorgeous scent, and I would definitely give these as a gift to some of my soap loving friends, you know who you are, as for myself I would use them as hand and guest soaps, simply for the fragrance.

Roger & Gallet Fluer de Figuier Perfumed Soap Set is Available at £12.50 Here

Daniel Sandler Radiant Glow Illuminating Face Powder

Hello to your beautiful self

You have probably heard of Daniel Sandler and won't be interested in what I have to say, but I want to just write a few words for my girlie's that may have not experienced Daniel Sandler as a person and brand. Daniel is a world famous make up artist, who on first glance you could not fail to be impressed by his good looks and glorious teeth !

Daniel came into his own in my favourite era the 80's with the fun that were the New Romantics, Punk etc.   Given a break by Mary Quant.........the rest is history, Daniels Philosophy is make up for REAL women, his products are produced in professional make up artist quality but designed for real women like us !   ever been overwhelmed by some make up counters ?  I know I have.

This is actually the first time I have written about this brand, but not my first experience, in my personal stash I have the Intense Volume Mascara and also sample sizes of the famous Watercolour Blusher, which is a truly glorious product, the beauty of this brand is that you can go on to the site and purchase sample sizes, to get your colouring right.   That to me speaks of huge confidence in the products, he knows once you have sampled it you will be back, no doubt.

I urge you to watch this it is a little dated but the history is there, and so are those teeth !

Enough of my rambling and now on to this glorious palette, Radiant Glow Illuminating Face Powder.  I for one love a bit of highlight, what I don't like are cheap brands that sit in fine lines, I know you will be shocked, but yes I have them :)  the quality of this powder is second to non, it has a creamy delicate finish that literally just gives the most perfect sheen to cheek and brow bones, not forgetting a cheeky dab on the end of your nose, the shades are in glistening pastel peachy tones which would suit any colouring.

A TIP from the Man himself: Sweep a blusher brush over the entire palette and apply onto cheeks to create a 'halo'  effect, to highlight the eyes apply the lightest shade in the palette under the brow bone with either fingers or an eyeshadow brush.

The palette itself is a perfect 'carry' size and complete with it's own mirror, ideal for your make up bag.

Dermalogica PreCleanse

Dermalogica PreCleanse

Hi Beautiful

I need congratulating please, I have fallen in LOVE, I have a complete and utter love for oil based pre-cleansers, if you haven't yet experienced one trust me you are missing out.

I was desperate to try this new one from Dermalogica as it is a brand that I have a bit of a soft spot for, so was hoping that this product wouldn't disappoint, If you have never used one before you are in for a treat, a couple of pumps of this gorgeous oily pre-cleanse literally melts away every scrap of make up including waterproof eye make up, if you have an oily skin do not be fooled into thinking this isn't for you, it also removes layers of excess sebum (oil) and daily pollutants.

Massage onto dry face with dry hands and let the silky oil do it's work at really giving you a deep down non drying cleanse, wet hands and continue to massage your face, you will see at this stage that the oil emulsifies and turns into a milky white liquid, rinse off with warm water using either your hands or a wash cloth.  Your skin is left soft, clean and ready for it's next stage of cleansing.  I use this also in the mornings as a single cleanse just to remove any night products, I personally don't feel the need to double cleanse if I have no make up on, but each to their own :)

Contains Borage seed, Kukui  ( a nut from the state tree of Hawaii often used as a massage oil ) and Apricot oils, no artificial fragrances, colours or parabens.

Find it here at Dermalogica  or Here at John Lewis

DHC Skincare Foaming Mesh

Hello to you :)

Looking at this mesh you would be forgiven for first thinking, Ballet Tutu ? Jellyfish ?  or is that just me, I must admit to having a little grin when I first saw it :)

DHC Skincare Foaming Mesh

Don't be fooled by this innocent looking mesh, it can save you a fortune in cleansers !  How you may ask ?  before you start to think I have totally lost the plot, you can watch a video here www.dhcuk.co.uk Foaming Mesh

You would be forgiven for thinking you actually use the mesh on your face, NO it is a simple device to make a large amount of foam out of a tiny amount of product, you simply add a drop of your face wash to the centre of the wet mesh, rub between your hands, holding the plastic loop, pull the mesh through your hands, leaving you with a huge amount of foam to wash your face.

I tried it with the DHC Face Wash and need the tiniest amount.

At £2.00 I would imagine this little gizmo would pay for itself in a very short space of time, if you use soap type cleansers. Different ? Yes, and as always DHC the Japanese skincare company bring us something new that we have not seen before.

£2.00 well spent ? watch the video and see what you think.

Lola By Perse Blush + Lip Gloss

I hope you are feeling fabulous :)

I have recently discovered Lola by Perse and wrote about their eye shadows here , this time it is Blusher and Lip Gloss.

Starting with the Lip Gloss, if I am honest on opening the box I instantly thought, nope wayyy to dark and in your face for me, I don't do bright colours.  That was until I tried it, shade 012 Deep Pink   which has a shimmer of gold that really softens the look, they comes in 8 shades and there are definately a couple more I want to try, I am a huge fan of lip gloss, however I am really fussy when it comes to buying them, and will never again buy online without first testing myself or reading a review, what looks a great colour in the tube often comes out resembling pale Vaseline !  not these, fab true colour that applies easily, is long lasting for a gloss and feels non sticky, I have to say I am seriously impressed.

Lola By Perse Lip Gloss

Lola By Perse Lip Gloss

Next up is the Blush I tried the shade Deep Rose 05 it comes in 4 shades, Deep Rose being the second to darkest shade, it was too dark for me and I could have gone one or two shades lighter, that said the product itself is great, I am always a little wary of powder blushers, being of a *cough* mature age :)  I tend to find they highlight wrinkles, and can creep into them over time, not this, it is a lovely creamy texture with a really high level of pigment, so you only need the tiniest amount.  I have to say I really do like the smaller size of all the Lola compacts, it makes it so much easier to carry your make up around.

What About Fit Shaming ?

Hi My Darlins
I was thinking this morning about the subject of Fat shaming, we all know about it, it's widespread in the media and women are now turning the tables and say stuff you, this is how I want to live and I will not be shamed into having the body society thinks I should have, so in these terms we have done well as women and are becoming more confident and happier with our bodies.........................This brings me to a whole new topic, is it that because women are gaining confidence and fat shaming isn't having such an effect, "The Media" are now attempting to get us all FIT SHAMED ?

Every single magazine on the shelf now has titles like "I Lost 20lb in 20 minutes"  celebs are producing fitness dvd's at a rate that would have made Jane Fonda green with envy, Instagram really is the best one, hour after hour we see women sporting the latest gym gear, or contorting their aged bodies into knot like Yoga poses, it really is everywhere and is quite frankly beginning to get on my wick.

I have spent almost my entire adult life on a diet of some sort, you name it, no matter how bizarre I have tried it, and if I am honest still do !  at 59 I am still looking for an instagram body..........it ain't happening, I am too lazy for a start, we all know what we should be doing, my lord we have enough visual information thrown at us every 2 seconds, as I am writing this I am wondering if it is coming across as negative and lazy ? that is not my intention, and if you lead a life of healthy eating and fitness, girl I admire and envy you, I used to rush to the gym 7 days a week, cancel social plans for classes, but until someone comes up with a magic motivation pill, I am personally stuck in a fit shaming, guilt ridden hole, where I will sit complaining, that I am tired, there are not enough hours in the day etc etc.  All of which are BS excuses, as I have the same amount of hours as every fitness bunny out there, I have more fitness equipment and dvd's in my house than any gym, again they sit there gathering dust fit shaming me, every time I look at them. And me feeling like a lesser person because I don't pound the streets in the latest Lycra get up.

I try, honest I do, I have days where I can be seen flailing around the lounge trying to keep up with a smiling snake telling me "good job" "keep it up" while I lay panting and sweating in a heap on the carpet. (witch)

Gawd I am rambling, my head is scrabbling for a solution and I can't find one, unless I move into a cave with no communication with the outside world, I think I will spend my life being shamed by something or another, time to dust of the fitness ball that sits on top of my wardrobe mocking me every morning when I wake.

Love and hugs

Lola by Perse Eye Shadow

Hiya Darlins

If you shop at larger branches of Marks & Spencer you will have already discovered the gorgeous make up brand Lola by Perse a gorgeous full range of quality beautifully pigmented make up.

Here are a couple of eye shadows from the range, there are 22 colours to chose from, totally spoilt for choice.

First up  041 Brown A gorgeous Matt Brown  powder shadow which has a gorgeous creamy texture, very little fall out when using this, it blended beautifully for an easy smokey eye look.

Lola by Perse Eye Shadow

Next is  043 Dark Pink My personal favourite as it looks gorgeous with  041 Brown, this is Satin finish which has the most delicate shimmer, not over the top glitter shiny so doesn't highlight wrinkles, and it blends really well with the next shadow.

012 Dark Grey Another Satin, with the best pigment ever, these shadows are actually ideal for anyone that isn't a professional when it comes to eye make up, they are so blendable and forgiving.

Although I was sent these to try out, they are totally the shades I would have chosen, all three sit really well together, and the compact sizes make them ideal for your make up bag, unlike pallets which often can be impossible to carry with you.

Lola by Perse Eye Shadow

Of course if you don't have the luxury of a large M & S branch nearby these are available online

Bodhi & Birch Botanic Dew Hand and Body Wash

Hiya Darlins

My love for Bodhi & Birch as a brand is no secret to any of you, and I get just a little bit excited when I hear that something new is about to be launched, I have visions of the founder Elijah Choo mixing and making potions like a mad herbal scientist in his aroma filled lab.

My wait for this new blend did not disappoint, and Botanic Dew Hand & Body Wash arrived ready to be sampled. *jumps in shower* in the middle of the afternoon !  Oh my, the fragrance just hits you, it's an English Summer Garden but not in the overpowering floral way you would expect,  flower essence, fruit oils and mint, fuse together to bring the freshest most calming fragrance ever, again from this beautiful brand it is a fragrance that makes you breathe really deeply and close your eyes for a moment or two just to enjoy the soothing sensation that these blends bring you.

This Purifying Hand & Body Wash gently lathers and will in no way irritate like some soap products, it leaves your skin feeling soft and soothed, with no tightness, yes I have been known to stand sniffing my own arm after using this wash, well why wouldn't you :)

Lacura Beauty Concealer Pen | Aldi

Hello to your beautiful self

As you all know by now I am not a make up snob, and am more than happy to mix budget beauty with high end, and I truthfully don't believe you always get what you pay for, some products come as a complete shock, in that you can pay a fortune and be royally disappointed, or find something for a couple of pounds that you totally fall in love with.

Once again Aldi have come up with a complete surprise in their make up range with this Lacura Beauty Concealer Pen.  A brilliant little pen that does what it says on the label.  I tried the shade 100 Cashmere, which says it is suitable for rosy complexions, to be honest I thing it would suit anyone fair, the handy click dispenser gives you just the right amount onto the brush for precise application to any areas that need covering, it is totally smudge proof so can be used either over or under foundation.  The other thing about this product is that works really well as an eyeshadow base to prevent crease lines.

Lacura Beauty Concealer Pen | Aldi The Lavender Barn Blog

All in all a great budget product, that sits nice and clean in your make up bag that saves you carrying brushes and a separate product.

Priced at approx £2-3.00 you can't really go wrong.

My one complaint with Aldi Beauty, is that it is a nightmare to get hold of, so if you find a branch with it in, grab it, you are one of the lucky ones able to get your hands on it.
