If there is only one thing to love about winter it's candles, I am not a winter lover by any stretch of the imagination but even I have to admit to falling in love with a beautifully candle lit room filled with fragrance.  As we know there are candles and there are candles!  not all are created equal, some smell fabulous on first sniff and even the first time lighting which means the fragrance isn't all the way through the candle and it wasn't designed to last.

A good quality Candle will give you lasting fragrance throughout the entirety of the burn all the way to the bottom.  MOR candles like everything else from this beautiful Australian brand are stunning visually. These candles are  made of natural  Soy wax with 100% lead free cotton wicks,  as always ( keep your wick trimmed ladies)  it allows for an even burn, less flame and no black smoke.

Super large size with an elegant glass holder from the emporium classics range, the unusual black soy wax gives off the most gorgeous candied fragrance, it's sweet and sugary with Jasmine, Sugar Blossom and Vanilla Musk.  One visitor asked me if we had been eating candy floss!  

With a 60 hour burn time this candle represents excellent value for money not only does it fill my lounge with fragrance it actually fills the whole downstairs of the house which is gorgeous, you even still smell the sweet fragrance the following morning.

Do you ever find that sometimes makeup just gets a little bit over complicated?  especially when there is so much choice. Sometimes you just want something simple and practical that will make life simpler for even the novice makeup lover.

E.L.F  have you covered.  This Nude Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette really does hit the mark, gorgeous and uncomplicated in 10 of the most flattering shades ever that would really suit any complexion.  The box describes theses as 10 Matte Shades,  no clue why as there are definitely 3 gorgeous shimmers in there, these are shimmery without glitter.  All 10 shades ranging from the palest nude right through to a deep chocolate are butter soft, they do have a very slight fall out when used dry, and I have also read complaints about these shades being to pale with no enough pigment.  Here's the thing.......The clue is in the name......NUDE.  yes they are subtle to apply dry, BUT if you want the WOW factor with these simply spray your brush with setting spray or water and get a full on pigmented night time effect.  To me this is a perfect little daytime palette, enough shades to play with and like I say if you want to switch it up for nighttime it's easily done!














The slimline case comes complete with its own mirror and is slim enough to easily fit into your handbag or makeup bag should you want to carry it with you.

I had heard of ARTDECO makeup but had not tried it for myself so I have been enjoying testing these 3 items out for you.

The brand Started 30 years ago in Germany and now for the last 15 years has been the market leader in it's country, available in 78 countries across the globe.  For something to have this level of success there has to be something pretty good going on,  I can with hand on heart say there is!  this is makeup at it's absolute best.  The quality and pigmentation is out of this world and it has been a joy to use.

There are a couple of main features to this bronzer that truly make it stand out, firstly it contains Vitamin E so it;s doing you good while you wear it, secondly the lasting power is out of this world, literally day to night without even batting an eyelid.  I have been dual using this compact as the darker shade works beautifully as a contour for those of us that don't want to go too dark, and the lighter side for an all over glow bronze.  You honestly don't even know you are wearing this makeup the formula is creamy yet at the same time finest powder ever.

I can honestly say I have had such pleasure using this stick, it has a an iridescent  glow which gives you highlight without glitter ball.  Soft, creamy and incredibly easy to apply. use it to highlight cheekbones, the bridge and tip of your nose, a little above the outer brow bone and a dot in the centre of you forehead literally gives you the best candle lit glow ever. It is one of those products that you will reach for daily and feel lost if you forget to apply it.

Every now and again I remember to throw my empty bottle and jars into the empties bin as I always want to write about them.  I am blessed to get lots of different products to try out so when something makes the empties bin it must have been extra fabulous for me to actually use it completely up. 


This time around we have Shampoo and Conditioner, Cleansing Oil, Eye Makeup Remover, and Bath & Shower Crystals.

Funnily enough I have never written a blog post about this eye makeup remover but it's the one I find hard to beat and is replaced as soon as its empty regardless of anything else I am trying.

This has taken me quite a long time to use up, I loved it so much I kept it hidden in the office away from the family, it's one to bring out when you really need the deepest relaxation, it is just heaven to use.





DHC Deep Cleanising Oil 200ml

Probably no surprise here, you have heard me rave about this product for years, it's still a very firm favourite regardless of what else comes along.   I very first wrote about this in 2016 and it has been replaced in my bathroom ever since!





Sachajuan Ocean Mist Shampoo & Conditioner 250ml

Sachajuan really are a fabulous brand, the haircare is always worth replacing, not the cheapest ranges but seriously worth it.


OK so now this little lot can go into the recycle bin and allow me to carry on collecting.

B. Boosters at Superdrug

This time of year plays havoc on our skins, what with the constant changes in temperature with central heating to standing outside in the biting wind it's a lot for our poor faces to cope with.

B.  at Superdrug have come up with two amazing little bottles of gorgeousness to provide us with a solution to skin that needs an extra oomph.  Based on the Korean ampule concept these little Boosters are used as & when you feel the need for some skin rescue. I personally love the idea of skincare that you can dip in and out of when needed, it made me think of headaches.....yes bear with me.   we all get headaches now and again, and knowing that we need help we take headache pills when we need them, there is no need to take them everyday, same with skin boosters, they solve problems but are not needed every day, get my thinking?  if you do I applaud you for being as daft as me!  we are in our own club.


These two little bottle both do different things for our skin and can be used alone or added to your current moisturiser.  I have been dipping in and out of these in both ways, I especially like a no makeup Sunday where I use the product alone to give my face a weekly boost.

Laura Kay London Pt1

I don't usually write a blog post the next day after a treatment or a service but wanted to bring you this one while its fresh in my mind. As you will see in the title this is Part 1 of what will be a 2 Part blog post.
Last Thursday I went to the Chelsea Harbour Club and met with Permanent makeup expert Laura Kay in the Amida Spa. The reason for my visit?  I was having my eyebrows Micro bladed for an article for the Daily Mail, I have been fascinated by looking at other peoples amazing brows for quite a while and have to admit to thinking nothing could be done with my poor abused stragglers, they have been through so much in their almost 62 years I am shocked that I have any hairs left at all.  The last thing I wanted was to have really bold dark caterpillars that looked obviously fake, so it was something I had thought about but not been desperate to try, plus I am not a huge lover of being hurt so didn't think it would be for me.  If I am completely honest I thought the whole brow thing was just for young girls, and didn't want to look daft trying to keep up with the young & gorgeous.

Having looked at Laura's work online and the fact that she is such an expert in her field she also trains others on her courses. ( details on the website)  I was confident that my stragglers were in safe hands.  On first meeting Laura puts you at ease with her warm friendly personality, we chatted about the look I wanted and what was possible and she set to work.  OK here's where the shock came!!!!!!  I was expecting some form of anaesthetic, after all the word BLADE is involved here!  Laura tells me that numbing cream makes no difference and I will not need it. OMG I will admit to having a moment in my head thinking........Do you really want these brows Lyn?

I have had 3 children so surely I could bear this pain for 40 minutes or so?  Wearing my very glam paper hat I laid down having had the brows mapped out and drawn in we were ready to go.  Deep breath...........OMG it didn't bloody hurt!  seriously it was no more painful that being plucked, I would usually close my eyes and try and zone out from the dentist or anything that I think may be painful but no, I chatted away to Laura while she worked her magic as if it were an everyday thing for me.  I hear the words "all done" look in the mirror and am completely blown away.  I cannot possibly tell you how happy I am with them so far, I say so far as I am back after Christmas for the final second stage top up.




I am prepared to go through the next 7 days which is where they will flake off and apparently not look fab, but seriously it's all going to be so worth it. Watch this space for part 2 of my brow journey.
