Happy International Women's Day

What exactly does that mean ? I guess it means different things to different people, for some it is a day to totally rip the pee out of Men :)  Poor things, they can't help it ☺ for others it is a feeling of empowerment and a day to share positive thoughts with other women ( this I love )

For me this morning it got me thinking about the women in my family, non of them achieved any major greatness, well not in today's society terms, but I posted a picture quote about strong women this morning on Twitter and it just made me think about just how strong the women before us really were, you only have to watch  "Call The Midwife"  to be reminded.

No machines helped my Nan, wash up  (hours at the sink) , do her washing             ( boiling whites in a tin bucket on the stove ) hoovered her floors ( she had a broom) and later on the magic that was a carpet sweeper !  or worked on her wrinkles, ( a bit of Ponds dealt with that )  No delivery bought her food shopping, she shleped every Saturday to the market for meat and veg, nope we didn't have supermarkets then, and the thought of my Grandad helping was just unthinkable ( he did Mans work ) and while he was away at war she carried on alone raising her babies and working full time.

I could go on and on with this post, but am getting a bit emosh, here's to all the Women we know, and love.
